Installation

Create a rough opening by adding 2 x 4 nailing blocks to wall framing.

Apply a continuous bead of siliconized caulk between flange and moisture barrier.

Place QuickShelf into opening, check level, fasten through flange only.

Cut metal lath or backerboard to shelf opening, overlapping and nailing through flange at corners and sides with galvanized roofing nails.

Install tile directly to QuickShelf with 100% latex modified thin set mortar, or siliconized caulk.

Skim coat back of tiles to ensure full contact.

Allow 24 hours before cleaning or grouting.

Backerboard Installation Option

Create a rough opening with nailing blocks.

Apply caulking and nail QuickShelf (flange) over installed backerboard.

Skim coat setting mortar from flange to wall for a smooth transition.

Install tile directly to QuickShelf with 100% latex modified thin set mortar, or siliconized caulk. Skim coat back of tiles to ensure full contact.

Allow 24 hours before cleaning or grouting.
